About Us

Emerging Routes Canada (ERC) is a non-profit organization founded in 2017. ERC started as a small group of passionate UBC students brainstorming supports they wished they had received in high school. Fortunately, ERC has evolved into a student-led non profit organization with members from many different walks of life and from many different educational backgrounds. 

 The unifying goal is to aid students in need of social-emotional learning interventions and post-secondary guidance by acting as a knowledge base of post-secondary students, armed with compassion and a drive to help the youth of tomorrow achieve their full potential. This is achieved by working with teachers in our partner schools to complement the existing curriculum. Our ambitions can be summarized into empowering high school students, motivating youth, and promote post-secondary education. 

Our mentors seek to act as an older sibling to the youth, being a positive influence to those high school students who can guide them through the rigorous, upcoming formative years of their life. Mentors disseminate their accumulated knowledge from lived experience onto the students, allowing them to peer into the window of life beyond secondary school. The ERC is also accepting applications for mentor roles.
